Lost and Found...

Help your pets find their way home with updated contact information on the microchip database.

Pets are lost every day.  The dog gets out of the yard or escapes when the front door when your pizza is being delivered.  The cat disappears after a thunder storm or worse yet, a natural disaster.   This Thursday, August 15th, is the National Check the Chip Day.

Over 9 million pets are euthanized every year within the United States because the information on the pet registry database has not been updated with the owner's current contact information, according to the American Humane Association.  Approximately only 17% of lost dogs and 2% of lost cats are ever reunited with their families.

To assist you in managing your contact information, there are a few options for you to choose from:

HomeAgain - www.HomeAgain.com

American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery - http://akccar.org/

If you are unsure of your pet's microchip information, most veterinarians can scan your pet for the microchip number.  It is then up to the pet parent to register this information with their correct contact information with pet recovery companies.

Updating your contact information is a very simple process and can reduce the stress of a lost pet.  Although tags and collars are wonderful, they can be lost or removed.  A microchip is a permanent option for responsible pet parents.
