Update: Boil Water Notice Over

The Tampa Water Department says its water has tested safe for consumption.

Updated Feb. 24, 3:36 p.m.: Hillsborough County has lifted the boil water notice it issued to customers in the Lake Magdalene area. Earlier: Carrollwood area residents who have been boiling their water since Friday can ease up on the precaution. The City of Tampa Water Department has given the all-clear on the boil water notice it issued on Friday, Feb. 22. The notice was issued after the water department’s main treatment plant suffered a power outage, possibility causing contamination in the drinking water supply. Lake Magdalene Added to Boil Water Area

Some Hillsborough County Public Utilities customers are under the 48-hour boil water notice issued for Tampa on Feb. 22.

As a boil water notice continues for City of Tampa Water Department customers, Lake Magdalene area customers of Hillsborough County Public Utilities are also being asked to take precautions. "The area to the east and northeast of Lake Magdalene has been included in a precautionary boil water notice, also issued to County water customers in Clair Mel and the area immediately southwest of the Hillsborough River and 56th Street," an alert on the county's website reads. Residents who are unsure if their water is supplied by Tampa or Hillsborough County, such as those living in apartment complexes, should err on the side of caution and boil their water until they can confirm if their service is included in the boil water area.
