The grocery chain’s Florida stores are included in the fish recall, which was enacted because of a concern about possible Listeria contamination.
Can’t get enough salmon on your plate? If you buy Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon from Whole Foods in Northdale, you might want to check the lot number. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting that 4-ounce cold smoked and sliced salmon packages sold in 12 states, including Florida, are now under a recall because of possible Listeria contamination. Listeria is an organism that can sometimes cause a “fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to a Whole Foods media release posted on the CDC website. Symptoms of listeria infection include high fever, severe headaches, abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea. This organism can also cause …

The Gaither High School Band and cheerleaders will perform live music while eager shoppers munch on breakfast. The organic market will open its second Tampa location in Northdale
If you're a fan of Whole Foods Market, a natural and organic food chain that touts products and recipes that are free of artificial ingredients, get ready for its grand opening in Northdale. Officials at Whole Foods say a new store is on schedule to open later this year, although no specific date has been set. Construction crews have been spotted at the site on Northdale Boulevard between the Northdale Executive Center and SunTrust Bank, just west of north Dale Mabry Highway. While locals are excited about the additional health food options the store will bring to the Carrollwood and Northdale area, some say traffic and environmental woes will plague the store due to a county project slated to remove trees and alter medians for vehicle …

Hillsborough County will hold a public meeting to discuss proposed improvements to the road medians on Northdale Boulevard from Dale Mabry Highway to Premiere Drive in northern Hillsborough County. The proposed improvements would provide safe access to the Whole Foods Market that is currently being constructed at the former call center site along the road, as well as improve safe turning along Northdale Boulevard. The median at Altimira Drive is proposed to be modified to eliminate northbound left turns from Altimira Drive onto Northdale Boulevard. A westbound left turn into the Whole Foods Store also is proposed to be added through the median modifications. Construction of these improvements is planned to begin during the summer of 2012 …

The health food store will be Tampa's second location when it opens in late 2012; the first is at 1548 N. Dale Mabry Highway
In less than a year, Northdale will be home to a popular business that will provide another food option for health-conscious north Tampa residents, bringing additional traffic on an already busy roadway. Whole Foods Market is slated to open in late 2012 on Northdale Boulevard between the Northdale Executive Center and SunTrust Bank, not far from the intersection of Northdale Boulevard and North Dale Mabry Highway. The store, which offers natural and organic items such as quinoa, flax seed and Greek yogurt, has locals talking. Some are unsure if the new store will hurt businesses on the other side of Northdale Boulevard, while others say it's a welcomed addition to the area. Meanwhile, county officials say they are prepared for an …

The owner of the independent health food store says a Whole Foods nearby won't change how she does business.
When Whole Foods Market announced in July the opening of a new store in Northdale, Abby Sayler, the owner of independent health food store Abby’s Health and Nutrition, was unfazed. Health food megastore Whole Foods has talked about opening a location nearby for years, Sayler said, so the news was unsurprising. Abby’s has established a presence on North Dale Mabry with the Carrollwood community, carrying vitamins, supplements and organic and natural produce. Whole Foods is a natural and organic grocery store with more than 300 stores. Sayler says she’s accustomed to competition from Carrollwood stores like nearby Nutrition S’Mart, an organic food and vitamin store with six locations, and Vitamin Discount Center, another vitamin store on …
