Should Whiskey Park North Close Down?

Law enforcement is pondering the issue after a double shooting took place at the bar over the weekend.

In the past seven months, three people have been shot outside Carrollwood's Whiskey Park North bar. One of them died. And now the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says something needs to be done before another person dies. This week officials confirmed that if crime doesn't stop at Whiskey Park North, they may take steps to close the bar down. "We're certainly looking at that as a strong possiblity," said Det. Larry McKinnon, sheriff's office spokesman. "We've reached our limit with it. It can't continue on." Whiskey Park North owners could not be reached for comment. I doubt it as most people on Section 8 simply cannot afford to go clubbing but I agree the club need to be cleaned up but one of the reasons this club is a hot bed is it overcrowded and that due to policy that started in the mid-90s that the only place for a club was ybor which has shut down most clubs around here and made it near impossible to open a new club outside of ybor   more ›

2 Shot at Whiskey Park North

This is the second time in a less than a year that a shooting has occurred at the popular Carrollwood nightspot.

The two men shot early Sunday morning outside a Carrollwood bar have been identified, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The two men are Yakim Williams, 27, of Tampa and Sheldon Lillie, 31, of Temple Terrace. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the double shooting that took place around 3 a.m. outside Whiskey Park North, 11921 N. Dale Mabry Highway. The incident began as hundreds of people were exiting the club. At least one man started shooting in the front parking lot, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. A shooting this past Summer startled the community.

In July a man was killed and another person injured after shots were fired in the parking lot of the Whiskey Park North bar. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Pablo Bonilla, 23, died from injuries sustained when a car pulled up in the parking lot of Whiskey Park North and someone got out and fired multiple shots. Whiskey Park North Shooting: What People Are Saying

The shooting occurred on Saturday morning at the Carrollwood bar.

Early Saturday morning, one man was fatally shot and an unidentified individual was treated and released from a local hospital after an incident at Whiskey Park North, a Carrollwood bar. Authorities say Pablo Bonilla, 23, got into an argument around 1 a.m. with Jordan Lee McKenna, 27, inside the club at 11921 N. Dale Mabry Highway. The argument occurred because Bonilla saw McKenna talking to his girlfriend, authorities said. A few hours later, while Bonilla, his girlfriend and others were getting into their vehicles, a blue Dodge Charger driven by McKenna stopped next to them. 1 Dead in Whiskey Park North Shooting

Deputies say another person is in critical condition.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene of a fatal shooting that took place at Whiskey Park North bar early this morning. According to a media release, the shooting occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the parking lot area of the 11921-6 N. Dale Mabry Highway bar. When deputies arrived, they found that at least two people had been shot. The victims were taken to a local hospital where one died and another person remains in critical condition, according to the release. Few other details are available at this time.
