What Happens to USPS Mail Destroyed in Fiery I-75 Crash?
With a lot of mail damaged in the crash, what does that mean for people who have lost their mail?
The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that one of the trucks involved in the crash that has closed Interstate 75 near State Road 56 was carrying mail from the U.S. Postal Service. Debbie Fetterly, a USPS spokeswoman, says the truck was carrying magazines and third-class mail from Jacksonville to Tampa. Most of the mail was also advertisements, she added. No First-Class Mail, bills, tax refund checks, personal letters, greeting cards or packages were on the truck, Fetterly said. They are still deciding how they will let people know if their mail was on the truck and how to deliver any salvaged mail.
