Afternoon Thunderstorms Likely as Students Head Back to Class
The National Weather Service is calling for a 70 percent chance of storms later today.
Carrollwood and Northdale area students who are heading back to class today might need an umbrella. The National Weather Service in Ruskin says there’s a good chance afternoon thunderstorms will rain on students’ parade as they make their way home after the last bell of the day. Scattered showers are likely this morning, but they’ll become “numerous this afternoon,” said Eric Oglesby, a meteorologist with the weather service. Oglesby said rain chances will remain high tomorrow, but will taper off into the 40 percent range on Thursday and drop more over the weekend. Today’s high will be around 80, Oglesby said. While storms are likely to make the first week back to school a bit soggy, forecasters have their eyes on a bigger concern. …
