County Negotiating with Arbitrator on Speed Humps Project

Patch talks to a county spokesman about where things stand

Whether you vociferously praise or complain about Carrollwood’s traffic calming project, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has heard your cries. While Carrollwood Village's speed humps will soon undergo a facelift, we caught up with  Steve Valdez, Hillsborough County's public works spokesman, to get the latest information on the county’s response to the issue in Original Carrollwood. Patch: What logistics or issues were addressed at the last county commissioner’s meeting regarding the speed humps in Original Carrollwood? County Vote Resolves Concerns About Speed Humps in Carrollwood Village

Speed humps to get a facelift soon

John Pare frequently rides his bicycle through The Cloisters and up North Village Drive to get to the Emerald Greens Country Club in Carrollwood Village. Traffic calming measures in Carrollwood Village such as speed humps have helped quell his safety concerns. Pare said that the speed humps keep pedestrians and families safe from speeding or cutting through traffic. “I would like not to have the speed bumps for myself," Pare said, "but it’s a necessity." The good news for Pare and other speed humps proponents is that the speed humps and other traffic calming devices will continue to have a home in Carrollwood Village, albeit with a facelift.
