Life Enrichment Center is a 'very large extended family' to its executive director
Ronna Metcalf's love of art shines through at the Life Enrichment Center in Forest Hills. Throughout the center, the walls showcase beautiful framed student artwork that the executive director shows off proudly, calling the talents her "extended family members." She boasts of their accomplishments, too. “We currently have 90 paintings at the Florida State Fair,” Metcalf said. "We took home 28 ribbons last year.” After a successful career as a licensed contractor in commercial construction, Metcalf returned to college to USF and received a degree in Gerontology. Local artists are taking a bow this month at Carrollwood’s North Tampa Branch Library where their work is being showcased in the Jan Platt Traveling Art Show. The show includes 16 paintings in various media, and will be on display through the end of September at the library, 8916 North Boulevard. A traveling exhibition, the show features art work by members of the Life Enrichment Center and is named in honor of the center’s board member and long-time Hillsborough County commissioner Jan Kaminis Platt.
