‘Discovery Channel’ Physicist to Speak at MOSI

Michio Kaku will be giving a lecture on Sept. 26.

This just in from the University of South Florida: New York Times bestselling author Michio Kaku, Ph.D., will be giving a public lecture Sept. 26, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). Kaku is one of the most widely recognized scientists in the world and is attempting to complete Einstein’s unified field theory. He appears on the Discovery Channel’s “How the Universe Works.” This lecture is part of the Frontier Forum lecture series, which is presented by the USF Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Faculty and sponsored by the USF Office of the Provost, USF College of Arts and Sciences and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Life Enrichment Center Offering Tai Chi at MOSI

The beginning and intermediate classes start on July 9

The Life Enrichment Center is registering adults for its new session of Tai Chi classes. Instructor Dr. Josef Tan will teach a moving meditation in Yang style Tai Chi for health. Dr. Tan has studied with some of the foremost masters in this ancient exercise and art form, and has been practicing Tai Chi in Asia and the U.S. for more than 40 years. The 6-week class will meet Monday evenings from July 9 through August 6.  Classes will be held at MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry), 4801 E. Fowler Avenue, Tampa. Research has shown that Tai Chi improves strength, balance and stamina, helping to prevent falls; increases bone density; reduces blood pressure; helps fibromyalgia symptoms; and improves overall health and wellness.
