Whole Foods Recalls Salmon

The grocery chain’s Florida stores are included in the fish recall, which was enacted because of a concern about possible Listeria contamination.

Can’t get enough salmon on your plate? If you buy Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon from Whole Foods in Northdale, you might want to check the lot number. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting that 4-ounce cold smoked and sliced salmon packages sold in 12 states, including Florida, are now under a recall because of possible Listeria contamination. Listeria is an organism that can sometimes cause a “fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to a Whole Foods media release posted on the CDC website. Symptoms of listeria infection include high fever, severe headaches, abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea. This organism can also cause …
