This information was provided by Life Enrichment Center: The Life Enrichment Center is registering now for a new watercolor class for adults. This class is for beginners or those who have experience. Learn to use simple brush strokes & watercolor techniques to paint anything from beautiful flowers to birds or landscapes to tree branches. In class, you will choose from one of the subjects you enjoy and you will be shown the steps to completing a finished watercolor. Here is your chance to learn the tips and techniques to create works of art that will make you smile. The six-week course will start on Monday, January 7 through February 25 from 10 a.m. until noon. More than 30 personal stories are included in the book.
There's a story about a woman who spent a year in the Congo with her anthropologist husband. Another is about a psychiatrist and a particularly interesting night he spent in the Bellevue Mental hospital with a patient. And one about a man's fond memories as a 5-year-old picking out the perfect Christmas tree. These are some of the more than 30 stories that appear in the Life Enrichment Center's "Pages of My Life Anthology." The book was recently published and will be used by students attending the University of South Florida's School of Aging Studies. Copies will also be sold at the center. The class is for adults.
The Life Enrichment Center is registering now for a new watercolor class for adults. This class is for beginners or those who have experience. Students can choose to paint in either watercolors or Sumi-e Asian brush painting, both water-based mediums. Artists who paint in other styles have found it helpful to learn the strokes and brush control in Sumi-e painting. The 6-week course will start on Monday, October 15through November 26, 2012 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. The course fee is $75 for members of the Life Enrichment Center or $90 for non-members. Openings are available in fine arts, writing, and photography. A series of fine art and writing workshops will be held in Fall 2012 and Winter 2013. This just in from the Life Enrichment Center: Welcome to Stand-up Comedy, a new introductory workshop for adults at the Life Enrichment Center that will teach students about the writing process, help them develop and perform their own material in class and introduce students to establish comedians who have years of stage experience. The workshop will be led by Michael Murillo, a local writer who has produced articles for Sun Belt Newspapers and editorials for The Tampa Tribune. Want to capture your life story for future generations? The Life Enrichment Center, 9704 N. Blvd., is offering a writing for adults called "Pages of My Life with author and editor Paula Stahel, who is immediate past president of the Association of Personal Historians Inc. Participants will learn to tap into their natural talent for preserving their personal stories. This eight-week class will meet Fridays, starting September 7th through November 2, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The fee for the course is $125 for members of the LEC or $150 for non-members. Forever Moving, Tampa Bay's modern dance company for adults, is taking new members for its fall session of classes. The next class is Sept. 7-28 from 10 a.m. until noon, and it is open to adults of all ages. Dance experience is not required. A low-impact exercise class is being offered at the Life Enrichment Center, 9704 N. Boulevard, in Forest Hills. The 60-minute class will be taught by Lynn Donofrio. Anita Adlin began painting years ago
Between the Carrollwood Cultural Center and the Life Enrichment Center, one thing is clear: North Tampa is a community full of talented artists. We recently talked to one named Anita Adlin, who attends classes at the LEC, about how she got interested in painting and how the community can see her work. Patch: How did you get started as an artist? Adlin: When I was 12 or 13, my mom signed me up for art classes for children in Atlantic City. It sparked my interest, and I have been painting on and off through my lifetime.
