An art show will be held at Aston Gardens in Westchase to raise money for an area nonprofit that provides classes for adults on a wide variety of topics from the arts to financial management. The Renaissance-themed art festival takes place Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the event Tampa Bay artists will display their works; oils, watercolor, carvings and writings, according to a press release about the festival. A brunch buffet and mimosas will be served. And along with the art display, festival goers can enjoy live music and psychic readings. Life Enrichment Center will benefit from the event being held at Whole Foods Carrollwood on Thursday.
Wine, art and charity will come together under one roof at Whole Foods Carrollwood this Thursday, May 9 when the store will play host to a special fundraiser for The Life Enrichment Center. The center, 9704 N. Boulevard, is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of classes to adults including art, writing and music. During the Whole Foods event, artists from the center will show off their work while those in attendance snack on wine and cheese. Carrollwood residents looking for new ways to get into shape or express their more creative sides might want to listen up. The Life Enrichment Center is rolling out two new classes in April that could be of interest. The first new class on the roster is a 6-week session of Yang-style Tai Chi. The classes incorporate meditation through movement and run from April 8 to May 13 at the Museum of Science & Industry, 4801 E. Fowler Ave., in Tampa. The class for beginners meets from 6 to 7 p.m. weekly. Intermediate students get their turn from 7 to 8 p.m. Dr. Josef Tan is the instructor for both sessions. This just in from officials at the Life Enrichment Center: The Life Enrichment Center is registering now for a new workshop for adults, Sumi-e Asian Brush Painting. Award winning artist Susan McKay will teach students in a small group setting. The workshop is open to all levels, from beginning to experienced. Students will complete a finished piece during the session. Artists who paint in other styles have found it helpful to learn the strokes and brush control in Sumi-e painting. Learn how a few simple strokes can turn into a bird, flower, leaf, or bamboo. The course will be taught by Susan McKay.
