Candidates Sought for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Study

This just in from Brock Communications: Orthopedic surgeons at Florida Orthopaedic Institute and Florida Hospital Carrollwood are evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the ACADIA® Facet Replacement System. ACADIA® is an investigational device intended to treat lumbar spinal stenosis without fusing vertebrae or compromising the motion of the spine.  Florida Hospital Carrollwood is one of up to 30 sites in the United States participating in a clinical study to determine if the ACADIA® Facet Replacement System is a safe and effective treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis. Antonio Castellvi, MD; John Small, MD; Farhan Siddiqi, MD; and James Billys, MD are the surgeons participating in the study.  Each year, more than 300,000 people are …

Florida Hospital Carrollwood Hosting Event Showcasing Radiology Upgrades

An open house will be held this afternoon at the hospital

Florida Hospital Carrollwood is hosting a community open house today to showcase its upgraded radiology department, featuring public demonstrations of two advanced imaging technologies. The open house will be held from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the hospital, 7171 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Below are details on the two technologies from a press release: The public is welcomed to attend the open house at the hospital, which is part of the newly-formed Florida Hospital Tampa Bay division and a member of the Florida Hospital organization of Adventist Health System.

CABA Expo Unites Local Business Owners

The expo was held on Wednesday afternoon at Florida Hospital Carrollwood's auditorium

Outside the auditorium at Florida Hospital Carrollwood on Wednesday, vocalist EddyDean sang classic tunes beneath a tent while locals trickled into the Florida Blood Services bloodmobile in the parking lot. Meanwhile, dozens of business owners and job seekers walked around inside the auditorium at the Carrollwood Area Business Expo. They exchanged business cards, sampled food from local eateries and learned more about north Tampa's bustling business community. Patch was there taking some photos. Florida Hospital Carrollwood Elevates Health Care with New Patient Safety Standard

Computerized physician and provider order entry system and integrated technology ensure patient safety and new standard in patient care

On Sunday, Florida Hospital Carrollwood reached a milestone in patient safety and efficiency of care. Implementing Computerized Physician/Provider Order Entry (CPOE) means that physicians now place their own orders directly into an electronic medical record, eliminating paper, the chance for errors and decreasing the amount of time that used to take place between the physician order and actual patient care. CPOE means that nurses and other clinical providers can spend less time interpreting physician intent and more time focusing directly on the patient and delivering safer and more standard levels of care. CABA Releases Names of Companies Hiring at Expo

Local businesses have employment opportunities

The Carrollwood Area Business Association's Expo next week is providing an incentive for anyone looking for work during the economic downturn: Employment opportunities. On Monday, CABA officials released a list of companies that are hiring and attending the CABA Expo, which will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on March 28 at Florida Hospital Carrollwood's auditorium, 7171 N. Dale Mabry Highway. CABA officials are optimistic about local companies providing jobs at the expo, which will also include refreshments and exhibitor presentations. "We think it's absolutely fabulous," said Noreen Klein, president of CABA. "It's nice to give back to the local economy. This is one of the worst economies we've seen, so this is amazing." Chaplain Uses Musical Roots to Soothe the Sick

Art Stagg is the chaplain at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, 7171 N. Dale Mabry Highway

Some days, he sings hymns. On other occasions, he'll strum his guitar while crooning John Denver tunes. At Florida Hospital Carrollwood, Chaplain Art Stagg merges his musical roots with the religious ones that sprouted in his 20s by standing in the hallways performing in an effort to make patients' days a little brighter. His melodious method of consoling the sick isn't something expected of a chaplain. Then again, neither was the journey to where he is today. "I see myself as an introspective, shy, wallflower kind of guy," said Stagg, 59. "Being a pastor and chaplain puts you out there.
