Riverview Military Organization to Host Fallen Heroes Memorial Rededication

The ceremony will take place Jan. 12 at Veterans Memorial Park in Tampa.

The American Legion Post 148 of Riverview is inviting residents to help honor men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during a  rededication ceremony for the Fallen Heroes Memorial and Field of Honor. The ceremony, hosted by the Riverview post, will take place Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301 N., Tampa, just north of the Tampa Bypass Canal. Expected to be on hand for the ceremony are members of the Hillsborough County Commission, Veterans Council of Hillsborough County and families of local fallen heroes. The Fallen Heroes Memorial is a replica of the memorial located at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square in downtown Tampa across from County Center. It contains the names of 55 …

Hillsborough Sheriff Honors Fallen Heroes

A portion of the law enforcement agency’s website is now dedicated to the military personnel who have died since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Do you remember the names of all the soldiers from Hillsborough County that have died since America went to war following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks? Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee does and he wants to make sure they and their counterparts from around the country are not forgotten. To that end, Gee has announced the creation of a special section on the sheriff’s office website that honors America’s “Military Fallen Heroes.” On this section of the sheriff’s office website, viewers can see a scrolling list of all those from around the country who have died.
