Thanksgiving Cooking Boot Camp at Apron’s Cooking School at Publix Supermarket in Citrus Park. The class will take place on October 14, 2012. This year, the class will focus on desserts, and cooks as young as 13 will be considered. This just in from the Carrollwood Cultural Center: The Bay Area Saxophone Quartet (BASQ) will return to the Carrollwood Cultural Center on Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m. BASQ is a group of local musicians who have been performing throughout the Tampa Bay area for almost three decades. Members of the quartet include Jay B. Starkey (soprano saxophone), Jim Burge (tenor saxophone), Ted Hope (baritone saxophone) and Craig MacDougal (alto saxophone). Starkey, founder of the Bay Area Saxophone Quartet, is a retired cattle rancher in Odessa who grew up in Largo. He has played saxophone since 5th grade and through college in concert and jazz bands. The Carrollwood Cultural Center announced new dates for its monthly jazz program, Jazz with Jim. Host Jim Burge and The Jazz Directions will perform at the Center, located at 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa, September 21, October 19, November 16 and December 14. All concerts will be at 7:30 pm, and tickets range from $12 to $18 per person. Members can purchase a Jazz with Jim package, which includes admission to all four concerts, for $40. On December 14, Burge and The Jazz Directions will welcome special guests Jordan Sanders Hawkins and Cole Hazlitt. Hawkins is a junior at Braden River High School in Bradenton where he is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned Outstanding Jazz Musician as a sophomore and a junior. He is a …
