The Carrollwood Area Business Association is hosting its CABA Coffee from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29. The networking event will be held at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, 7171 N. This just in from the Carrollwood Area Business Association: The Carrollwood Area Business Association, a 27-year-old business professional association that offers weekly events, announced their 2011-2012 award winners last month at Emerald Greens Golf & Country Club. Below are the winners: CABA also had an inaugural Founder’s Award for Leadership, in memory of the late John Baumann, who we lost last fall and was the CABA Founding Father in 1986. This award was given to a CABA Member for their dedication and commitment to Family, Service, Community, and CABA. This year’s recipients: Karla and Dick Nielsen, Keller Williams Tampa Properties. Congrats, CABA members!

This just in from the organizers of Carrollwood's VillageFest 2012: Now in its 10th consecutive year, VillageFest is coming back to Carrollwood Village. This fall festival is our largest and most exciting community event. Election results were announced today at Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar in Carrollwood.
On Wednesday morning, the Carrollwood Area Business Association announced winners of its board election during a members-only breakfast at Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar. Of the 305-members of CABA, an organization comprised of north Tampa's business owners and professionals, 47 percent of members voted, said Maria Patterson, executive director. The winners, who will attend an annual awards installation dinner for CABA members on July 25 at Emerald Greens Golf Resort & Country Club, are: Lea Orchard automatically took the reins as president, replacing Noreen Klein, who became immediate past president. Campaign season has trickled down to north Tampa with candidates vying for nine positions on the Carrollwood Area Business Association's board. The nine positions are: treasurer, secretary, president elect and six board of directors positions. Maria Patterson, executive director of CABA, said the 305-member organization comprised of business owners and professionals in north Tampa wants members to cast their votes via mail by July 10. Candidates running for a spot on the Carrollwoood Area Business Association's board are gearing up for the next step in the elections process that could secure them one of nine seats with the organization made up of north Tampa business owners. A "Meet the Candidates Breakfast" will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13 at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Avenue. She beat cancer, triumphed at motherhood and helped the Carrollwood Area Business Association continue its momentum during her tenure as the organization's president. Noreen Klein has lived in Carrollwood for three decades. She grew up in Staten Island, N.Y., as the oldest of three girls in a family of "Irish cops and firemen." She moved to Florida with her family and started working at a bank, where she discovered a love of mortgages. She joined the Carrollwood Area Business Association, and is now president. Ierna’s Heating and Cooling recently donated a new heating and cooling system to the family of Nelida Bagley of Land O' Lakes. Part of the donation came from the proceeds of the 2012 “Bring the Heat” Chili Cook Off event, and the rest was donated directly from Ierna’s, a member of the Carrollwood Area Business Association, to install the $3,500 home comfort system. The donation was intended to benefit a local family in need of a heating and cooling system for their home. Bagley applied for the “Bring the Heat” donation when she and her daughter Elizabeth moved from their home in New Hampshire to care for her son, Jose, who suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving in Iraq in March of 2004.
