Walmart Denied, Shoplifting, Sweetbay: Carrollwood Patch Week In Review

A look back at the week that was...

Two women shoplifters hit The Gap and Bath and Body Works in Westfield Citrus Park Mall this week. They were caught on camera. Are you looking for a pet to adopt? This exotic kitty with big green eyes is looking for a forever home. Sweetbay Supermarkets announced this week they would be closing several stores, some in the Carrollwood area. The Carrollwood Cultural Center released their classical music lineup for 2013. See which shows are coming to town. Anti-Walmart organizers gained a big victory this week when County Commissioners denied a rezoning for a new store on Floyd Road.

Learn To Preserve Vegetables, Meats And Seafood Safely At Home

Hillsborough County Extension Services is offering the course.

This information was provided by Hillsborough County's Extension Office: Whether you raise or catch your own food or buy from someone else, you can preserve vegetables, meats and seafood at their peak of freshness to enjoy later. Hillsborough County Extension Service will teach you: Participants will get directions, recipes and resources to take home. The class will demonstrate equipment and procedures.  The new USDA Canning Guide will be for sale at discount price. Everyone will go home ready to start canning! Classes will be at the Hillsborough County Extension Service office, located at 5339 CR 579 in Seffner. Registration is $10 per household up to 4 people. Deputy Fighting Cancer, Melting Pot, 55,000 Christmas Lights: Carrollwood Patch Week In Review

A look back at the week that was.

1. A Northdale Sheriff's Deputy is facing cancer. To offset his medical expenses the sheriff's office hosted a fundraiser for the 33 year old. 2. The Melting Pot was recently featured on the hit A&E series "Be The Boss." The Tampa based company awarded franchise opportunities to two lower level employees. 3. Save money the next time you go to Sweet Tomatoes by donating a canned good. The restaurant is holding the promotion through December. 4. Looking to be dazzled? Head over to Streamside Drive where owner Jim Carson has 55,000 holiday lights on display synchronized to holiday music. 5. A controversial vote on a proposed Walmart at Floyd Road and Dale Mabry Hwy. has been delayed to January.
