Walmart Attorneys Request Delay
Hillsborough County Commissioners are scheduled to vote on the proposed Walmart in Carrollwood.
Representatives for Walmart have asked Hillsborough County Commissioners to delay their vote on a proposed rezoning for a neighborhood grocery store at the corner of North Dale Mabry Highway and Floyd Road in Carrollwood. A Wawa convenience store and gas station are also planned for the site. The proposed rezoning request was suppose to be voted on by the commission at its Dec. 11 meeting. Attorneys for the retailer, however, have asked that the vote be taken at a later date - possibly in January. Betty Robinson with Hillsborough County Growth and Management Department said Walmart attorneys had recently put in a "request for continuance." I walk my dogs at Floyd and Dale Mabry and each week I pick up a garbage can full of tossed trash from Taco Bell, 7-11, boxes from discarded hot dogs from 7-11, beer cans, whiskey bottles, malt liqueur bottles, discarded water bottles, soft drink bottles, cigarette containers, and occasionally empty prescription bottles (with the labels torn off) and syringes from the "pharmacy" located there. …   more ›
