Construction is under way at the drive-through at Stall Road and Dale Mabry
Last week, Carrollwood residents experienced a double business bust after The Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery and Burrito Boarder closed their doors. Hope may have sprouted at PDQ, a drive-through chain restaurant that specializes in shakes, chicken tenders and sandwiches, which will open soon at 12650 N. Dale Mabry Highway at the intersection of Stall Road. Two other Tampa Bay locations of PDQ have already opened. One is at 2207 S. Dale Mabry in Tampa, and the other is at 27757 S.R. 56 in Wesley Chapel, according to the company's website. The company is also looking to expand to other locations, according to a story on tbo.com. The restaurant was located next to World of Beer in the Carrollwood Village Shoppes plaza off north Dale Mabry
Another Carrollwood restaurant has shut its doors. Burrito Boarder, which was located at 12908 N. Dale Mabry Highway in the Carrollwood Village Shoppes plaza, is boarded up with a "For Rent" sign posted on what used to be the casual Mexican restaurant's entrance. The restaurant was next to Carrollwood's World of Beer, and was one of a handful of eateries that WOB patrons could order food from and have it delivered while they sat at the bar. A call to a phone number on the "For Rent" sign wasn't returned on Monday. What do you think about the closing of Burrito Boarder?

The intersection is home to three properties that are currently vacant; one may become a restaurant called PDQ
It was once home to Borders bookstore, Perkins Restaurant & Bakery and Denny's. But over the past two years, bankruptcy and the economic downturn forced out the three businesses at Stall Road and Dale Mabry Highway, causing some to wonder if the intersection was cursed. Now, signs of life are sprouting at the Carrollwood intersection. The former Perkins restaurant next door from Borders at 12650 N. Dale Mabry Highway could become a restaurant called PDQ, according to county officials. A public hearing asking for input from residents in the area will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at 601 E. Kennedy Boulevard regarding the issue. According to a Hillsborough County application from PDQ for "major modification" to the site, a request has…

I sampled the menu from the drive in. I am no fan of chicken, in that the only chicken I ever order from a restaurant would be the standard Chick-Fil-A sandwich, so that's the measuring stick for me. While I can't get excited over a sandwich, this does have the potential to fill the unavailable-on-Sunday Chick-Fil-A void. The reason I used the drive through- which went pretty fast for the volume …   more ›
