OK, so you had a busy week. We understand. Let us catch you up on all the highlights!
A Carrollwood woman is shooting a video with a little help from area residents. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office put two local men behind bars April 18 following an investigation into child pornography. Combined the two men were charged with nearly 100 counts of possession of child pornography. Widening of the heavily traveled roadway will begin April 21. Boston Police said the blast occurred just before 3 p.m. Police say at least two are dead and 22 injured. As Tax Freedom Day 2013 nears, we’re wondering how you feel about your bottom line? Do you think the government takes too much of a cut? The U.S. Senate voted down a measure that would require tougher background checks for those who purchase guns. We’d like to get your take on…

Find out more about the upcoming production being staged by a member of the Carrollwood Players.
Have you ever wanted to be in a music video, or dreamed about playing a moaning, shambling zombie? This Sunday you could get the opportunity to do both, as Tiger von Pagel, a finalist in the Carrollwood Idol contest, is coming to Safety Harbor to film a video for the competition. The shoot will be conducted at Philippe Park between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and von Pagel said she is still searching for a few people to be part of the production. "We're looking for people to come out and either be zombies or run away from zombies," von Pagel told Patch by phone. "This is not a Hollywood production," she added. "It's just me and my husband and a Canon PowerShot camera." Although she is trying to pass it off as a strictly amateur endeavour, the …

A participant in the Carrollwood Idol contest is calling on area residents to take up the cause by dressing up as zombies for an upcoming video shoot. Also needed are people “to run from the zombies.”
Tiger von Pagel is looking for a few good zombies – about 10 to 20 to be exact. As a round one finalist in the Carrollwood Idol contest, von Pagel is planning to move into round two with a zombie flick that calls for lots of local extras. To make that happen, von Pagel put out a call on the Carrollwood Players’ Facebook page asking for locals willing to play roles during a shoot this Sunday, April 21, in the Safety Harbor area. Needed are 10 to 20 people for the zombie roles and extras that are “willing to run from (the) zombies,” von Pagel wrote. The zombie video is being put together for a good cause, von Pagel said in a subsequent interview with Patch. Money raised by those who vote in the Carrollwood Idol contest will go to the …

A Christmas Carol, with a female lead, is playing through Dec. 22 at Carrollwood Players
Reporters write the story. It isn’t often we have the honor of becoming part of it. Yet that’s exactly what happened during the auditions and late night rehearsals of Carrollwood Players’ A Christmas Carol, opening Friday and running through Dec 22. Having been cast in a small role, I was able to learn firsthand what goes on behind the scenes when putting on a production as large as this. With a cast and crew of 42, ages ranging from seven to ~70s, A Christmas Carol is one of the playhouse’s larger shows. With over two dozen Saturday and late night rehearsals under our belts, despite 42 distinctly different personalities and acting level – first-timers to seasoned professionals, the cast has become an extended family. It has been an …

Nine and Numb two-night competition has mind reader for opening act.
Justin Myers plans to astound me on Friday night. He has asked a particular question that I am not to share, and my private response is scribbled on a sticky note, folded and shoved into my front pocket. Myers is a mind reader and the opening act for improv troupe Nine and Numb’s first Friday and Saturday night competition “Civil War,” pitting cast members against one another for audience vote. Sometime during his 30-minute stage performance at the Carrollwood Players Theater, Myers will reveal my answer by reading my thoughts. Myers, 35, became interested in mind reading in his early teens. He likens his performance to the psychics of Victorian England in the 1800s. He has been mind-reading at assisted living and rehab care centers …
