Patriot Tennis Shut Down at State

The Carrollwood Day School’s girls’ tennis team didn’t take home the title, but they have strong prospects for the coming years.

Carrollwood Day School’s girls didn’t bring home a state Class 1A championship title this week, but the future looks bright. The team lost both matches played in the April 16 championships in Orlando, according to The Tampa Tribune. Even so, coach John Most is very hopeful about next year’s chances. “We’re only going to get stronger and tougher,” Most told The Tribune. This year’s team held an 18-0 dual-match record. The whole roster returns for the next two years. Check out the Tribune's full story here. Want to congratulate the girls for their run at the state title? Just comment below! Carrollwood Day School’s Nick Rodriquez struck the milestone during the Patriot’s game against Santa Fe Catholic.

Carrollwood Day School’s head baseball coach has been on the job for less than a year and he’s already breaking records. Nick Rodriguez logged his 100th career win in early March, according to Bay News 9. The victory came when the Patriots topped Santa Fe Catholic 11-1. Rodriquez was hired by Carrollwood Day School in September 2012, but his coaching career dates back to 2001 when he was hired by Tampa Prep to serve as an assistant. He was the very first varsity baseball coach at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Pasco County and managed to score “five consecutive regional tournament appearances, and back-to-back district titles in 2010 and 2011,” according to an earlier Patch article.   He was named the Pasco County Coach of the …

Carrollwood Day School Students Get Lesson on Texting While Driving

AT&T brought its Wheel and Pedal simulator to the school to demonstrate the dangers of texting and driving.

When it comes to driving home the lesson about texting and driving, the younger the better. That's the philosophy behind AT&T's Wheel and Pedal simulator. As part of AT&T’s aggressive Txtng & Drivng…It Can Wait public awareness campaign, the communications company took its simulator to Carrollwood Day School, 1515 W. Bearrs Ave., Tampa, last week to give Barbie Monty's fifth-grade class a chance to try it out. According to Michele Money-Carson, senior public relations consultant for West Florida AT&T Corporate Communications, the goal of the “It Can Wait” movement is to save lives and make texting and driving as unacceptable as drinking and driving. "That is the simple-yet-vital message AT&T is sending drivers, particularly teens," she …
