Pasco Invites Bands to Battle

The annual competition pulls in bands from all over the Tampa Bay area.

Pasco County is looking for a few goods bands that want to lay it all on the line for a chance to win cold, hard cash and professional recording time. The county’s library system plays host to the annual battle that pits bands from all over the Tampa Bay area in a competition to win $1,000 in cash and $1,200 worth of professional recording studio time. The field is open to bands from anywhere in the state of Florida, including Carrollwood and Northdale, with a few caveats: each band must have at least three members, the majority of members must be 21 or under and all bands must have at least two original songs. Entrants Needed for 'Teenage Battle of the Bands'

The event is held in October.

The 15th Annual Teenage Battle of the Bands will be held on Oct. 19 and 20 during the Hillsborough County Fair, but it's not too early to get your band pre-qualified. Hillsborough County’s Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department is looking for bands to participate in a competition that provides free studio time to the top two winners. Band members must be between 13 and 20 years of age, and only one band member can be age 20. The bands are judged on guitars, drums, vocals, showmanship and originality. The entry fee is $50 dollars per band. "The biggest thing the bands get out of it is experience," said Joe Soletti, program supervisor with Hillsborough County parks and recreation.
