The Life Enrichment Center is registering now for this health and weight loss program for adults, G.I.F.T. – Get Into Fitness Today. Participants will learn how to improve their health by incorporating good nutrition and physical activity into their lifestyles. Weight and body fat (BMI) will be measured weekly and the class will include topics of healthy low-cost meals, menu planning and healthy eating. Classes meet on Thursdays, from noon to 1 p.m. Cost is $4 per class. The class will be led by Certified G.I.F.T. The Life Enrichment Center is registering now for new six-week art class for adults called "Drawing Into Painting." International award winning artist Debra Radke will teach students in a small group setting. Studies will include still life set-ups, landscape, 3-D models, and photo references to learn and practice line and shading techniques, color and 3-D perspective working from drawing into painting. Life Enrichment Center is registering now for a new workshop called "Modern Art – Painting in Acrylics" with James Vann. This workshop will give students a free form opportunity to think outside the box and explore different painting styles. This class is open to all levels and is appropriate for a beginner as well as the emerging artist looking to enhance their style. Students will learn to paint in the form of Neo-cubism. The three hour workshop will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. until noon. The class fee is $45 for members of the Life Enrichment Center or $55 for non-members. If you've ever wanted to learn Tai Chi, a class sponsored by the Life Enrichment Center in Forest Hills is being offered at MOSI, or the Museum of Science & Industry. The class will teach the "Yang" style of Tai Chi, and will run for six weeks on Monday evenings from Feb. 20 through March 26 at MOSI. The beginners class will be held from 6 until 7 p.m., and the intermediate class will be held from 7 until 8 p.m. Ronna Metcalf, executive director of the LEC, 9704 N. Boulevard, said the class will be especially helpful for beginners. "They will certainly improve their strength and stamina," she said. The Life Enrichment Center in Forest Hills held its annual outdoor art festival, Art Under the Trees, on Dec. 3 to help benefit the center. Local artists from around the Tampa Bay area brought everything from paintings to jewelry to this event for visitors to the event to browse and buy. The Life Enrichment Center offers a wide range of classes that include art, dance, digital photography, Spanish and fitness programs for adults. This is a private, nonprofit organization serving the community through grants, corporate sponsors and fundraising events. The Life Enrichment Center is located at 9704 North Boulevard. Life Enrichment Center offers course for adults
The Life Enrichment Center in is registering for an evening art class called "Painting in Acrylics & Oils." Students will learn the basics of oil or acrylic painting, exploring blending and brush control. This class is designed to expand artistic knowledge and skills. Students of all levels are welcomed. The class will be held on Wednesdays from Feb. 16 until March 23 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The classes will meet at the LEC. Center offers a variety of art classes
The Life Enrichment Center is now offering a workshop for adults titled "Painting on Silk," where participants will learn to create a hand-painted silk scarf or pillow cover in a one-day workshop. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. The cost is $45, including supplies. The workshop will be taught by Ethel Friedman. Students should bring a design of their choosing to paint on the silk scarf or pillow. Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch to eat during a short break.
