Benghazi, Obama care, Margaret Thatcher… What’s Next … One Man’s Opinion

Another rant from the resident curmudgeon.

What’s wrong with this picture? The media has effectively silenced the myriad of unanswered questions about the Benghazi fiasco. What was our response to the murder of our diplomat and the other American citizens? Silence! No big deal. We can always appoint another ambassador, right? What about the U.S. Seals who defied orders to “stand down” and died, painting the target for the attack drone that never came?

Apparently, it also makes perfect sense to slight one of our oldest allies by not sending a high ranking official (President, Vice President, Secretary of State, etc.) to the funeral of one of the most influential women leaders of the last century, Margaret Thatcher.

What happened to the promised substantial “Obama care” healthcare premium reductions that are turning out to be substantial, all right, substantial “increases! The program implementation costs continue to grow at a horrendous rate and we continue to foot the bill.

I am an independent and proud of it; the “wishy washy” Republicans are too busy licking their wounds and apologizing for not being more diverse and common people-oriented to effectively challenge the current leftist-oriented agendas. The triumphant Democrats are pushing their advantage with unbridled zeal. I am especially repelled by their use of Sandyhook survivors to pursue a gun control agenda.

With the world teetering precariously on the brink of annihilation as North Korea and the Middle East continue to rattle their nuclear sabers, it is really time for a change. The meeting of the minds must begin at home and it must start with an interesting concept, true bi-partisanship between Republicans and Democrats. Come on kiddies, it’s time to play nice. There is no place for political vendettas or class baiting.

There are so many pressing issues crying for joint political attention. Our economy continues to wallow in semi-recovery. Recent statistics tell us that unemployment is the lowest that it has been since 2008 but they don’t reflect the people who have given up or the millions of jobs that have been lost and no longer even exist.

Once upon a time, an oppressed people came to a new country fraught with infinite possibility. They established a land of opportunity. It fought its wars to retain its freedom.  The economic climate promoted and nurtured entrepreneurship and personal success. It is time for the rebirth of that country and those people.  The premise, if you ever need a helping hand, there’s a great one at the end of your arm, sustained its emergence as a beacon for the world’s oppressed.

It’s time for a hand-up, not a handout. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Jobs create self-esteem and self-respect.

And finally, to the Senator from the great state of Montana who characterized social security recipients as “sucking on the teats of the government.” Know this. It’s my money, not yours! I paid into social security for 50+ years. If I had invested that money privately, I would probably be a millionaire now. If you blood suckers didn’t continually raid it for your own selfish interests – the latest incursion was more than 700 billion to Obama care – it would still be solvent for years to come. Guess what? Social Security is not your own personal piggy bank … but then again, that just one man’s opinion. What do you think?

By the way, Mr. Senator, how long have You been feeding at the public trough and will you take your “golden parachute” into retirement while your own constituents continue to barely subsist on the social security that you continuously rob?
