School Buses Doing Practice Run on Monday

School starts next week in Hillsborough County.

This just in from Hillsborough County school officials:

School buses will be out in full force on Monday, August 20, in Hillsborough County, even though classes for students don’t start until the next day.

Bus drivers will run their bus routes at the scheduled times on Monday in an effort to spot any glitches or problems – and correct them – before the start of school. That means motorists will see school buses one day earlier than expected.

Transportation general manager John Franklin wants to test the system under actual conditions, and that means running 1,000 buses during early morning and mid-afternoon traffic.  Bus drivers will follow real-time conditions at every stop by activating the stop arm, flashing lights, and opening the door.  

Motorists are reminded to comply with all laws related to school buses. Hillsborough County Public Schools to transport approximately 91,000 students each school day.
