Coming Tomorrow: Gaither Cowboys Defend Home Turf
The Gaither Cowboys soccer team play on Tuesday night versus Naples
First, let's turn back the clock.
On Jan. 28, the Cowboys lost a hard-fought, upset decision to Sickles in the District 9 finals. The result? Gaither had to travel to Naples to take on the District 10 Champion, Charlotte Fightin’ Tarpons.
Gaither got back on track by thrashing The Tarpons 2-0. Jordan See and Cesar Ticora both scored, and keeper John Nardozzi only had to make two saves as Gaither cruised past Charlotte.
Meanwhile, Sickles lost a controversial game to Gulf Coast, opening the door for Gaither to come home for the regional semifinals. Both Gaither and Gulf Coast are No. 2 seeds in their districts, but Gaither possesses the better district record, which gets them the home game.
The two teams will cross swords on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
If Gaither can get past Gulf Coast, they will face the winner of East Lake and Seminole in the regional finals on Friday.
If East Lake wins their match, Gaither will have to travel to Tarpon Springs. If Seminole gets through, Gaither could end up with another match on their home turf.
