CDS Seniors Win Big at Florida State International Thespian Festival

Two seniors were named best duet actors in the state of Florida

Two Carrollwood Day School seniors, Adam Hall and Michael Valdez, won one of the highest awards of the Florida State International Thespian Festival on March 16.

Adam and Michael were named the “Best Duet Actors” in the state of Florida. With over 8,000 thespians collected together in downtown Tampa to compete and perform in various acts and plays over four days, the CDS seniors were the only members of District 9 (Hillsborough, Brandon, Plant City) that won an award.

Jaime Giangrande-Holcom, CDS high school drama teacher, said she was so excited it brought her to tears when she saw the results posted on Friday evening.

“I am so proud of both of them," she said. "This award justifies the past four years of both physical and emotional work on their craft.  We are no longer the little troupe that could; we are the little troupe that did!"
