CABA Members Participate in Great American Teach-In

The teach-in will be held next week

The Great American Teach-In will be held next week, allowing local professionals to stop by schools in Hillsborough County.

A few members of the Carrollwood Area Business Association are pitching in on Nov. 17.

Patch talked to former CABA president Dr. Tommy Lane about how he got involved with the teach-in and what he expects to experience in his sixth year as a participant.

Patch: How did you get involved six years ago?

Lane: I got involved when some of my teachers that were patients asked me. I have also done science fairs and teacher appreciation days where we would take our massage therapist in there for a treat.

Patch: What do you do on teach-in days?

Lane: I talk about the body, grade level specific, and let them know how they need to take care of themselves through diet, exercise, and what chiropractic (work) is.

Patch: How do they pair you with a school? Do you get to choose?

Lane: I will do multiple days for multiple teachers based on availability.

Patch: What was the most rewarding thing you got out of doing the teach-in?

Lane: Teaching the kids about the way the body works and hearing all the different questions they come up with. Quite interesting and rewarding.
