New Target Date For Cigar City Brewpub Opening in Northdale

The brewpub will occupy the space that used to be T.G.I. Friday's on N. Dale Mabry Highway, just south of Northdale Boulevard.

Thousands of beer lovers turned out earlier this month to celebrate Tampa Bay Beer Week. Cigar City Brewery is a large part of the brewing business here in Tampa. But Founder and CEO Joey Redner will soon look to grow the Cigar City brand beyond beer and into the world of great food. That's the hope for the new brew pub opening soon in Northdale.

Originially, Redner hoped to open the Cigar City Brewpub in Northdale this month. Finishing touches are being applied this week, and staff will begin training next week. Redner says he now hopes to open on April 1.

"It's a large space, the kitchen is enormous," he says. "We tried to take a little of the brewery and bring it in to the space."

Patrons will see lots of barrels used to brew beer mixed with a lot of stainless steel in the interior design, Redner says.

The Northdale Cigar City restaurant is slated to have 250 seats for diners not including the bar. A patio will also be available for those who want to enjoy a cigar.

For the beer geeks, Redner confirmed that there will be unique brews only available at the new location. The brewers will also use a different strain of yeast at the new location, so all beers brewed there will have their own unique taste.
