Jimmie B. Keel Library Open For Business Again

Carrollwood and Northdale residents no longer have to travel to nearby communities to check out books.

The Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library opened its doors again to patrons just in time for lunch on Tuesday, May 28, according to library officials.

Rain-related flooding forced the 2902 W. Bearss Ave. library to shut down last week. The library remained closed through the Memorial Day holiday as crews worked to dry out the facility and make repairs.

While there’s still “no word yet on how much damage was done or a cost estimate” for repairs, Travis Abercrombie, the library system’s spokesman, said “information is still coming in.”

Abercrombie did have some good news to pass along.

“Initial reports are that no books were damaged.”

Now that the doors are open again, the library is resuming its normal schedule of serving patrons. That means it’s open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; from noon until 8 p.m. on Thursdays; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
