Holiday Events in Gulfport 2012

Mark your calendars for the following Christmas and holiday events in Gulfport!

Happy Holidays from Gulfport Patch!

From the annual Holiday Hoopla festival to the traditional lighting of the City of Gulfport Christmas Tree, there's a lot going on in December. Here's what we have so far!

City of Gulfport's Tree Lighting Ceremony

  • Monday, Dec. 3
  • 7 p.m.
  • Clymer Park

Bundle up for an evening of festive music by the Gulfport Recreation division, and join the Mayor, Council and Yvonne Johnson in caroling, a true Gulfport tradition. There will be refreshments and festive cheer as the Mayor lights the tree for another holiday season. He will be looking for a few helpers this year, so kids get ready. This is a free admission event and all are welcome!

There just may be a visit from the big man in red himself to listen to your little ones Holiday wishes.

Holiday Hoopla

  • Saturday, Dec. 8
  • 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Beach Boulevard
  • Free Admission

Support small business by shopping local! The Gulfport Merchants association presents the annual Holiday Hoopla! A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Operation Santa and Gulfport families in need.

Come out and find unique gifts from local shops, vendors and artists. The event will also feature holiday characters, live music, glass blowing, children's games and a visit from the big man himself - Santa!

Learn more about the all day event in our post, "Holiday Hoopla Coming Soon."

Christmas Collecto-Rama

The "Christmas Collecto-Rama...A Santa-Comes-to-the-South Holiday Antique Show" is the Sunshine State's only show of exclusively vintage holiday décor and retro Christmas fun, including lectures and oldie holiday flicks, with a cash bar and retro tunes throughout the day to help keep everyone in a jolly mood.

Exhibitors will fill the lobby of the theater, selling everything from vintage Christmas ornaments, décor and ephemera to old aluminum trees and candy containers, even electric light-up Yule logs, as well as vintage games and toys from Christmases of long ago! Look for vintage Santas, angels, elves and ornaments galore!

Learn more about the antique show in the announcement, "Vintage Holiday Memorabilia & Decor Sale at the 2012 Christmas Collecto-Rama in Gulfport."

Boca Ciega Yacht Club Holiday Boat Parade

  • Saturday, Dec. 8
  • 6 p.m.
  • Gulfport Beach

Boats will start lining up by the Gulfport Marina at 5:30 p.m. with the parade beginning at 6 p.m. Be sure to find a spot on the William's Pier or Gulfport Beach for the holiday parade. For information regarding participation or to sponsor this parade, please contact Barb Meyer (727) 430-7241 or visit sailbcyc.org.

Wondering what to expect? Gulfport Patch reader Eric Cribb sent in these lovely photos from last year's parade: "Shared Photos: Chrismtas Boat Parade." Thanks so much Eric for sharing! And, if anyone else wants to share their pics - remember to upload them in our "Gulfport Pics & Clips" gallery!

Could you please give us the parade route? I live in PYCC and have annual Christmas parties around the parade. But the last couple years, they don't always come behind the houses on Bayview Circle & Seabreeze Drive. We'd like to know if our guests will be able to see the parade or not.

Peggy, Sorry I didn't write it out - I attached the flyer with the parade route above. It's the second PDF. Also - here is the route, written out: The parade will begin by entering the Gulfport Municipal Marina at approximately 6:00pm. It will then travel past the William's Pier in Gulfport and into the canals of Town Shores Condominiums and Pasadena Yacht Club Estates. Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club will be included on the route as well. The parade will cross the bay and pass by the club docks before returning to BCYC.
