Airport Parking Costs Could Double

The proposal would help pay for more parking improvements at Tampa International Airport. Do you think it's worth it, Carrollwood?

The days of pulling out pocket change to pay for short-term parking at Tampa International Airport may soon be over for Carrollwood residents.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority will consider a proposal Thursday, July 31 that would raise the hourly rates from $3 to $6, according to TBO.com. The daily maximum price to park in short-term will stay at $20 under the proposal and those who use long-term parking would only see a daily rate increase of $1. That fee would go to $16 a day.

The proposed fee hike is anticipated to raise about $1 million a year to offset the costs of parking improvements planned for the airport and help pay for past measures.
