Thieves Smash Wall, Use Trash Can to Rob Local Camera Shop

The Tampa Police Department is hoping someone will recognize the two men it says burglarized a camera shop in the Carrollwood area.

Tampa Police officers are looking for some help to identify two men they say went put a new twist on the old smash-and-grab to steal about $10,000 in equipment from North Tampa Photography last weekend.

The men, an email to the media said, smashed a hole into the concrete block wall behind the business at 1020 W. Busch Blvd. around 7:49 p.m. Saturday, July 13 and then walked inside carrying a garbage can. They then filled that can up with “various cameras and supplies” before leaving.

The smash-and-grab activated the store’s security system, but the burglars were long gone when authorities arrived.
