Hillsborough Deputy Shot Three Times Near Carrollwood

The deputy was responding to a call at the Inwood Park Apartments on Waters Ave., in Tampa.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, Hillsborough County Deputy Lyonell De Veaux was responding to a 911 call at the Inwood Park Apartments, 4747 W. Waters Ave., when she was shot three times at close range. She is alert and talking to friends an family at St. Joseph Hospital.  

According to TBO.com De Veaux was talking to a woman involved in a domestic dispute when her boyfriend approached them and fired three shots at the deputy at point blank range. 

The suspect then barricaded himself inside his apartment, according to the Sheriff's Office. At 3:30 a.m. This morning, deputies entered the apartment and took a 24-year-old male into custody, stated a release from the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies used an explosive charge to get through the door. Tthe suspect was found unconscious in a small closet inside the apartment. The suspect was taken to a local hospital. According to the Sheriff's Office, he had no visible signs of injury and they do not know was he was unconscious.
