Update: Fire Rescue Retrieves Trapped Ducks

Fire rescue employees rescued eight ducklings trapped in an underground stormwater drain.

Update (3:12 p.m.): Hillsborough County Fire Rescue workers were able to rescue Sunday eight ducklings trapped in an underground stormwater drain in the area of 4146 Pinelake Ln.

The agency and the county public works department worked together on the rescue. The drain was about 15 feet below ground.

A fire rescue worker used a ladder to descend to the ducklings.

None of the ducks were injured, said Fire Rescue spokesman Ronnie Rivera. They were reunited with their mother.

Earlier: Some ducks are trapped underground in the area of 4146 Pinelake Lane, and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue workers are looking to get them rescued today, Sunday, Feb. 10.

Ronnie Rivera, spokesman for the agency, said that nine ducks are trapped underground. They are 15 feet below ground.

Hillsborough County fire rescue has contacted local animal rescue organizations to assist in the rescue and are waiting to hear back, as of 12:16 p.m. If they don’t hear back from an organization, firefighters could rescue the water fowl themselves.
