Fire Damages McFarland Road Home

Three people were inside the Carrollwood house when the blaze broke out, officials say, but no injuries were reported.

A properly functioning smoke alarm gets the credit for helping prevent injuries when a fire broke out in a home on McFarland Road in Carrollwood Monday, March 25.

That’s according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, which remained on the scene into the evening hours Monday. While there were three people inside the 3103 McFarland Road home at the time the blaze started “they were able to evacuate the home and no injuries were reported,” a fire rescue media release stated.

Seven units and 15 firefighters responded to the scene and were able to put out the blaze “quickly,” the release said.

The fire serves as a reminder for residents to have working smoke alarms in every room and on every level of their homes, officials said. Hillsborough County residents who don’t have smoke alarms are asked to contact fire rescue at 813-272-6600.
