Carrollwood and Northdale are part of two districts that are divided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

If you live in District 1, which includes Northdale and the northern end of Carrollwood, find out more about crime in your community by reading a synopsis of the latest Neighborhood Watch District 1 Bulletin below from Dep. Chris DePolis, community outreach deputy for the sheriff's office:

  • The number of crime types (such as burglary, armed robbery or home invasion) that were reported in the district were up 5 percent in April compared to March, and up 8.6 percent when compared to February.
  • Both residential and non-residential burglaries were down about 6 percent and 29 percent, respectively.
  • Vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts were on the rise with increases of 5 percent and 23 percent, respectively.
  • Tips to deter auto burglary include: Activating your vehicle's alarm system, park in highly visible areas and never leaving items of value (cash, garage door openers, etc.) in plain sight.
  • Don't open the doors of your homes to strangers.
  • Finally, connect with the sheriff's office through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. That gives the community access to events, breaking news and original news segments from the sheriff's office.
