Carrollwood Man Arrested in Sweetbay Robbery

The robbery occurred in November of 2011

A 21-year-old Carrollwood man was charged on Tuesday with one count of robbery and two counts of battery after Hillsborough authorities say he was responsible for robbing a Sweetbay Supermarket last year.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Taurian Jarell Crosby entered the Sweetbay at 5320 Ehrlich Road on Nov. 12, 2011 at around 11:17 p.m. He flashed a handgun and then approached the clerk, pointing the gun at her while grabbing her by the shirt and pulling her to the floor, authorities said.

The suspect dragged the employee into an office area of the supermarket, where a manager was confronted by the suspect, authorities said. The suspect grabbed the manager by her clothing and pulled her into the office and onto the floor, authorities said.

The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of money from the safe and fled on foot, authorities said. A witness saw him run away from the stoer and drop his mask on the sidewalk. Authorities were given the mask, and it was submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The DNA profile was entered, and it matched Taurian Jarell Crosby, authorities said.
