Accused Century Bank Robber Left Evidence Behind

The suspect's fingerprints were left behind at the scene, deputies say.

A 33-year-old man with no known address is behind bars today, March 6, following a recent robbery at Century Bank.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say Antonio Butler is the man who walked into the 716 W. Fletcher Ave. bank just before 10 a.m. March 4 and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller handed over cash and the man fled in a silver vehicle.

Butler, however, left clues behind at the scene that led to his identification in the case, a sheriff’s office media release states.

“Detectives lifted the prints from the demand note the suspect left at the scene and the prints matched those of Antonio Butler,” the release said. “The teller also identified Butler through a photo line up.”

Butler was arrested March 5 after deputies caught up with him at the Baymont Inn & Suites, 3001 University Center Drive. He was charged with bank robbery of $100,000 or more and violation of probation.
