1 Dead in Van Dyke Road Crash

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

An early morning crash on Van Dyke Road has left one man dead.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Joseph Poarch, 36, was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup truck westbound on Van Dyke around 2:20 a.m. today, April 15. As Poarch’s truck approached the sharp right curve just east of Dale Mabry Highway, it left the road and struck a tree.

Poarch, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, a sheriff’s office media release states.

No one else was involved in the accident.
