Current of Tampa Bay Brings Complimentary Laundry Service to South Tampa Residents

TAMPA, FL – (June 10, 2014) – Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. is introducing its Laundry Project to South Tampa residents Saturday, June 14. The Project, which was created to assist low-income families by providing the necessary items needed to wash clothes, will take place at the Best Laundromats Coin Laundry located at 5821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Families who frequent coin Laundromats wash approximately eight loads per trip, averaging around $25 each visit. Unfortunately, many of these families are forced to choose between paying their bills and putting food on the table or having clean clothes and linens. The Laundry Project, ran by community volunteers, washes 250 to 300 loads in a single event and eliminates this burden.

“While there are a number of places that could benefit from service projects, I strongly believe in the importance of helping those in our own back yard,” said Jason Sowell, President of Current of Tampa Bay. “This South Tampa Laundry Project gives us the opportunity to show our love and leave community members with a sense of hope.”

Palma Ceia Baptist Church is partnering with Current of Tampa Bay to sponsor the event. Volunteers will be on hand to assist families where needed. Members of the community can also contribute by donating much needed supplies including: detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), one-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener and laundry baskets. More information about this and additional upcoming events can be found online at www.LaundrybyCurrent.org.
