What Happened to the Brick Road Inlays in Carrollwood Village? Confused? So am I.

Several years ago, Hillsborough County decided that Carrollwood Village needed traffic calming devices to reduce the speed of the vehicles throughout the neighborhood.  I attended several of the meetings, and they even proposed constructing roundabouts in certain intersections. 

Did the county actually look at what happened on Clearwater Beach when the emergency vehicles were unable to maneuver around the roundabouts?

In the past month, I saw all of the signs that were placed around the Village regarding road construction.  I paid attention, but to much to my amazement,  some of the traffic calming devices were paved over with asphalt. These so called traffic devices of which I speak are the laid brick, within the road, to reduce the speed of cars because of alleged noise that is made by tires. 

As taxpayers, we paid for these bricks and three short years later ... we again have asphalt. And was it not right after they implemented the speed tables on Casey Road, that the county promptly removed the devices?

This is where the confusion lies ... Do we or do we not need traffic calming devices?  If they really want to curb the speed of the traffic in Carrollwood Village, why not place a speed trap and ticket all the Indy car racers?  Why do they continue to spend our tax dollars to make decisions on what we need and then have us pay for the devices to be removed or paved over?
