Nautical Style in Tampa Bay Homes

Happy Flag Day!

By Lana Bingham

In honor of Flag Day, why not incorporate our country’s colors into your home? A nautical color scheme consisting of red, white and blue is easy to add to new homes in Tampa Bay. Either by themselves or paired together these nationalistic colors work well in nearly any room in the house.

An All-American Living Room: Coastal colors with a hint of red are all the rage inside homes near the bay or shoreline. While navy blue suggests sophistication, offsetting it with white and a hint of red will allow your living room to maintain a casual elegance. A blue and white striped loveseat with red throw pillows will create an inviting yet charming living area. Add sailboat inspired décor and lightly weathered wooden furniture to complete the look of your nautical living room.

White Cabinets and Counters: Home builders Tampa have noticed a rising popularity in coastal style kitchens. With their light wooden cabinets, white marble or granite counter tops and borderline contemporary feel, they have quickly become a favorite among homeowners. White kitchens may be a little extra clean-up, however, this light and breezy style is well worth it.

Seeing Red: Red is best used in small doses so that is does not overpower other colors and design elements. A red door on the front of a white house is a classic example of accentuating a home’s entrance. Bright red appliances are another great way to incorporate a little color into your home, ranging from toasters to refrigerators to washing machines. Adding a few splashes of red can be a great focal point in the kitchen.

The Beauty of Blue: With so many shades of blue to choose from, it is a great color to apply on your walls. Tampa builders mainly see blue in bathrooms and bedrooms. Navy blue will offer regal charm, while a lighter blue can suggest comfort and tranquility. A Maritime blue bathroom with a touch of white will pair well with nautical rope towel rings and teak wood cabinets. A white bedroom with hints of blue will create a cozy coastal atmosphere.

Patriotic Patios: Red, white and blue outdoor furniture has found its way into nearly every home store and it is here to stay for the entire season.  Pool parties, outdoor dinners and weekend cookouts can be enhanced by summer style furniture. To liven up your patio, place a bright red umbrella next to blue padded lounge chairs and a white table.

Home builders Tampa typically see coastal and traditional style homes pair well with red, white and blue. These colors are easily incorporated in both design elements and furniture selections to create a nautical style in your home. Adding our flag’s colors to your home is a great way to celebrate this national holiday.
