1 in 3 Pets Will Be Lost - Why Microchip Your Pet?

Did you know that only 22% of dogs that enter a shelter are reunited with their owners?  However, this rate increases to over 50% when a pet is microchipped.

The cost is minimal to have a veterinarian to administer the microchip which requires no anesthesia and a small investment to maintain owner information in a national database.

One of the problems that our organization has witnessed is updating owner information.  Living in a transient area, people move all the time and the volunteers at HCAS are left with outdated phone numbers for owners.

If you are planning to move to a new home and your animal is microchipped, please update the information within the database in case your pet goes missing.
