Sweetbay Supermarket and Radio Personalities Box Out Hunger
Sweetbay Supermarket is combing forces with Cox Media Group in Tampa Bay for a one-day hunger-fighting effort. The event is part of the grocery retailer’s annual Box Out Hunger campaign, which began on November 1 and runs through December 31.
Sweetbay shoppers are encouraged to purchase a pre-packaged box of food for $10. Each box contains non-perishable items including canned tuna, green beans, pasta, cereal and peanut butter, among others. Shoppers can take the boxes and donate them to a family in need, church or civic organization or drop them at the Customer Service desk at Sweetbay stores, where they will be donated to Feeding America Tampa Bay.
On Friday, November 16 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. all six Cox radio stations in Tampa Bay will broadcast remotely from the Sweetbay Supermarket located at 15692 North Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa to raise awareness of this annual hunger-fighting campaign. On that day, 1-800-411-Pain Lawyer Referral Service will match the cost of the first 500 boxes sold. Thanks to this combined effort, as many as 1,000 Tampa Bay families will have food on their table.
