Children's Social Skills Group

Social skills groups teach children a variety of social skills to help children in developing skills to communicate and interact effectively with other people and within his/her environment. The goals of this group are to help children make and keep friends, develop more self-confidence, and behave more appropriately while meeting the developmental needs of the individual children. Social skills groups are intended to meet the developmental needs of individual children. We will work on active listening, conversational skills, problem solving, anger management, cooperation and courtesy, and identifying and understanding personal emotions as well as the emotions of others. Children will be taught how to read social cues and how to react appropriately to them. During group sessions, activities including role-plays and group interaction are used so that children can practice their new skills.
