Youth Theatre Troupe Holding Auditions

The auditions will be held in a few weeks.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center’s Broadway Bound youth theatre troupe will hold auditions for new members on Saturday, August 25 from noon until 2 p.m. at 4537 Lowell Road.

Broadway Bound is an educational musical theatre group for children ages 6 to 17 with a goal of introducing and perfecting the skills required for theatre production. The students are exposed to all aspects of the theatre, and are educated on the audition process. The program focuses on three key areas:

  • Music: Students will be taught proper vocal technique, breathing, and a working knowledge of musical theory.
  • Acting & Drama: By introducing different methods of acting, children are ready to assume any role from Hamlet to Wicked.
  • Dance: We will cover the fundamental concepts of dance as it is associated with musical theatre. Emphasis is placed on discipline, musicality and technique.

Broadway Bound meets each Saturday at the Center from 10 a.m. until noon. Members have appeared in full-length musical productions at the Center including Lionel Bart's Oliver!, Meredith Willson's The Music Man, Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I and HAIRSPRAY The Broadway Musical in addition to G2K Once Upon a Mattress. Broadway Bound’s next performance will be How to Eat Like a Child on Sunday, October 14 at 2 p.m.
