Want to Learn How to Paint?

Life Enrichment Center is registering now for a new workshop called "Modern Art – Painting in Acrylics" with James Vann. 

This workshop will give students a free form opportunity to think outside the box and explore different painting styles. This class is open to all levels and is appropriate for a beginner as well as the emerging artist looking to enhance their style.  Students will learn to paint in the form of Neo-cubism.

The three hour workshop will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. until noon. The class fee is $45 for members of the Life Enrichment Center or $55 for non-members. Annual membership starts at $30. 

The class will be held at the Life Enrichment Center, 9704 North Boulevard, Tampa.  Class size is limited and requires advance registration.

James Vann graduated from the high school of Art & Design in New York City, majoring in animation and illustration. He also attended the Albert Pels School of Art in New York City. There, he studied commercial art and illustration. Shortly after, he began his career as a Corrections Officer at the NYC Department of Corrections, his artistic talent was recognized by officials and he was promoted to the position of Art Director in the Public Affairs Division. In that capacity, he taught art classes to inmates at Rikers Island. 

He has had many group and solo exhibitions throughout New York City and Tampa and has received commissions for designs and murals from the New York City Police & Fire Department, the New York City Department of Corrections, and the Hillsborough County Public Art Committee.

He recently completed a commission project of six large murals at the Tampa Police Dept. District III headquarters in Tampa.  His work has been widely exhibited in numerous locations in the United States.
