The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering free vessel safety checks on Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cehcks are free to all county residents, including Carrollwood and Northdale boat owners.
The purpose? To avoid boat equipment citations next weekend during Gasparilla.
The checks, which focus on items such as life jackets and emergency devices, takes 15 minutes. The checks will be held at the Salty Sol Fleischman (Gandy) Boat Ramp, 5108 W. Gandy Boulevard.
