Tropical Wave Makes for Stormy Start of the Week

Heavy thunderstorm activity is likely today.

Carrollwood and Northdale residents hoping for a break from thunderstorms aren’t going to get it – at least not in the early part of the week.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 70 percent chance of storms today, some of which are likely to be rather heavy. A tropical wave sitting over Florida is to blame for the high chance of storms.

While not all areas will see especially heavy storms, the weather service does warn the wave could produce “strong, gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall and deadly cloud-to-ground lightning.”
